Asset master data from engineering drawings
AssetGenesis
Functional locations and equipment built from your P&IDs and single-line diagrams, ready to load into SAP PM or Maximo.
Load P&IDs and SLDs, mark the system boundaries on the drawing, and AssetGenesis reads every tag inside them into a functional-location hierarchy. Review, enrich with maintenance data and OEM spare parts, then export SAP load templates.
Building a plant's asset register by hand means weeks of reading drawings and typing tags into spreadsheets. AssetGenesis reads the drawings for you — vector or scanned PDFs and DXF — and keeps the link between every record and the sheet it came from.
Each step works on its own, too: import an existing equipment list, create functional locations by hand, or start from the drawings. Nothing extracted later overwrites what you entered.
What it does
Boundaries on the drawing
Draw a rectangle or polygon around a system. It becomes a functional location in your hierarchy, e.g. 1000-PL01-U31-FWS-PMP01.
Tags read for you
Every tag-like text inside the boundary is extracted — instrument bubbles, tags broken across lines — and classified as equipment, instrument, valve, line or electrical.
Legacy mapping
Old functional locations printed on the drawing are collected and mapped to the new structure, one-to-one or many-to-one.
OEM catalogues to BOMs
Match equipment to OEM models and propose spare-part bills of material from the manufacturer's catalogue.
Revisions handled
Load a new drawing revision and see which tags appeared or disappeared; your boundaries and decisions carry over.
Checks before hand-over
Unconfirmed drawings, overlapping boundaries, tags in two places and unmapped legacy locations are listed with a link to fix each one.
Modules
Drawings
P&IDs and SLDs by company code, plant and unit, keyed by drawing number from the title block.
Functional locations
Levels 1 to 6, created from boundaries, by hand or from an Excel import.
Equipment and tags
One record per tag per unit with criticality, planner group and work centre.
PM catalogue and plans
Catalog profiles, task lists and maintenance plans on any equipment.
Work and reliability
Notifications, work orders, readings and stock against equipment and locations.
Review and delivery
Approval per functional location and export as a hand-over workbook or SAP load templates.
Questions
Do our drawings need a fixed tag format?
No. AssetGenesis reads any mix of letters and digits and learns from the tags you exclude or correct.
Does it work with scanned drawings?
Yes. Vector PDFs are read directly; scanned sheets go through text recognition first.
